Niall, how hard is to keep a snake?

My Ciaran wants one, and it would have to be kept in my place, so I'd be the 1 doing all the looking after I suspect (quite like the idea if im honest).

What snake would you reccomend for a beginner?

Well.. snakes can live a long time, the snake is really my dad's and it's actually older than me (and my brother) at 23 years old lol. We feed ours frozen mice (it's a royal python called monthy - my Dad must be a comedian).

If you're getting a pet snake for the first time you would probably be best with a Corn Snake as they're easy to look after. But, you're probably best reading up on how to look after a snake before you get one.
