The Fight To Stay In The Football League Empty The Fight To Stay In The Football League

on Wed 03 Apr 2019, 3:54 pm
Nothing is probably worse for a football club than getting relegated from the football league. Once your football league status has gone many then have to look at going part time or cutting right back to survive. Even if they don't do that the statistics show that the teams going down very rarely bounce straight back up.

Macclesfield Town sit bottom of the football league. In November they appointed Sol Campbell as manager and they were then five points adrift. Now they are 1 point behind the other team sat in the relegation zone, Notts County and one point from safety as Yeovil Town sit in 22nd place on goal difference from Notts County.
Tight for these seven as there are then a further six points to Crawley Town who at the moment look safe. All three below then need three wins to get above for certain and that's if Crawley lose. With only 6 games left (seven for Macclefield) it is half their games and logic says they aren't going on that sort of run. that means two of them look like they are going out of the league.

Macclesfield start at home this weekend against Morecambe in 18th who are not mathematically safe. They have though won their last two league games so form wise will not be an easy win for Macclesfield. After that they have their game in hand on Tuesday when they face Exeter at home. Exeter and in the play off hunt and Macclesfield need some points from these two games to help their cause.
Notts County face mid table Northampton at home knowing if they lose and Macclesfield pick a point up from either of their games in the next seven days and they will be bottom as Macclesfield will jump them.
Yeovil who have lost their last five league games almost looked doomed on that form. They face a trip to tenth placed Swindon Town who are still hoping to make the play-offs. Losing could see them drop into the bottom two if Macclesfield can get a point against Morecambe and Yeovil lose by two clear goals.

The Fight To Stay In The Football League Empty One out of Two to get relegated

on Wed 01 May 2019, 1:38 pm
Well we are at the last game of the season and so far we know Yeovil Town will depart the football league and are relegated.
Left fighting for survival are Notts County and Macclesfield Town.
Macclesfield hold the cards as they sit just out of the relegation places, two points ahead of Notts County. They also have an eight better goal difference so in all likelihood a draw should be enough for them. They face Cambridge United at home in a bid to get that point to stay in the football league.

Notts County have a much tougher task as they must win to stand any hope. Even then they really need Cambridge United to do them a big favour. The difficulty though is they are away to Swindon Town which won't be easy but then I expect they know that.

Two games at 3pm on Saturday and one will be relegated out of the football league.
