Championship clubs have been briefed on potential penalties - as high as 21 points - that they face if they breach spending regulations.
The new sanctioning guidelines were presented to the 24 clubs as part of several items on the agenda at a pre-arranged EFL meeting on Thursday.
The current 12-point sanction can now be upped by a further nine points if it is deemed to be an "aggravated" breach.
