Rangers Sign Lafferty Empty Rangers Sign Lafferty

on Wed 22 Aug 2018, 3:27 pm
Kyle Lafferty has completed his return to Rangers on a two-year deal.

From Rangers FC website
"RANGERS are today delighted to announce the signing of Kyle Lafferty on a two-year-deal from Heart of Midlothian.

The striker returns for a second spell at the club, having previously turned out for the Light Blues between 2008 and 2012. The 30-year-old joins up with Steven Gerrard’s side to bolster the Gers attacking options.

Lafferty won three league titles at Rangers, a Scottish Cup and two League Cups. To date the Northern Irishman has played 138 times for the Light Blues, scoring 38 goals, including one penalty.

His goal against Hibernian in April 2010 won the Gers the league that season and he signed off the 2010/11 season with a hat-trick against Kilmarnock as Rangers won their third consecutive league title.

He was just 20 when he made his debut in the Champions League under Walter Smith, having signed from Burnley, where he began his senior career. His first Gers goal came 11 days later in a league win over Hearts.

At 6’4 Lafferty is a towering presence and has made 67 appearances for his country, scoring 20 goals. After leaving Ibrox Lafferty joined Swiss side Sion, before switching to Italian side Palermo. He then returned to the U.K, penning a deal with then Championship side Norwich City. Two loans from Norwich followed, one with Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor and Birmingham City.

In the summer of 2017 the forward moved back to Scotland, signing for Hearts. In 45 appearances for the Tynecastle outfit last season he scored 19 times. He is already off the mark in this campaign, netting in the Jambos win over Celtic earlier this month."
