Can Manchester United win the Champions League

It was rumoured that the reason Jerome Boateng did not join United in the summer was he didn't think they could win the Champions League.
He want's to win it another time.
The question then is he right? Can Manchester United win the Champions League or arte they not good enough?
What are your thoughts.

you look at teams like Man City who are streets ahead of United at the moment and see how they struggle to win it and think what chance do United have? In truth probably very little.
So for me it's a no.
So for me it's a no.

Man Utd's defeat by Brighton 3-1 will add fuel to this now and no doubt bring up the lack of major transfers bought in during the summer.

After getting destroyed by Spurs in second half and losing 3-0 you have to now seriously question if they can make the top four.
Man City & Liverpool already look good and far better than them and Spurs have just shown what they can do. Chelsea look to be improving on last season as well.
It will be a fight for them to get top four if they don't turn it around quickly.

I have gone no.
One big factor for me is that before season started United were 7/1 for title and third favourites with the bookies.
After four games (only 4 games so 34 to go) the bookies now have them out at 40/1. They are no mugs and if they now think United are a slim bet for title then it is likely the same for top four for me.
