EFL - Manager bookings

on Sun 05 Aug 2018, 5:02 pm
So the EFL have decided this season will see the trail of managers being able to recieve yellow and red cards, rather than just being sent to the stands.

Yellows will be shown for bottle kicking, undermining the ref and sarcasm! Every fourth yellow card a manager recieves over the season will see them gain an extended ban and possibly fine.

Reds will be for violent conduct, spitting and interfering with play.

Thoughts?

when I was a youngster managers were the example of showing perfect respect ....

I don't know it seems a little bit silly to me. The manager is bound to get excited or upset over their teams performance and show it at times. It is just like a player celebrating etc. it is part of the game and you have to expect it. You can't yellow card him for kicking a water bottle surely, what harm has that done other than show frustration.
If it flew on pitch or into stand and hit someone then maybe.
As for red cards just what is violent conduct? Is there a description otherwise if it is ref's discretion then it will cause problems between ref's interpreting it differently.

I could see a yellow card for abusing/disagreeing with ref in a nasty manner but otherwise you are expecting them all to be saints which wont happen. They need to get real and accept people , even managers, get emotional when watching their team.
