Salford City added another striker to their ranks

on Tue 31 Jul 2018, 12:01 pm
From The National League

The National League club have already secure a number of impressive attacking options this summer.

But that hasn’t stopped Ammies manager Graham Alexander dipping into the transfer market again to secure the signing of James Hooper.

Alexander sees the former Rochdale youth player are a big player for the future and has shone on trial during the close season.

Hooper is the third forward to join the club in July, after they agreed a deal with Peterborough for Danny Lloyd and with Aberdeen for the prolific Adam Rooney.

“I’m very excited to be here,” he told the club’s media team. “There are a lot of attraction about this club.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how far Salford can go.”

Salford begin their season live on BT Sport against Leyton Orient on Saturday

A good bit I expect. They clearly are trying to get to Football League with them but even the ex Man Utd guys behind them don't have the money needed to get them to the premier league or perhaps even Championship.

Good article here!

The Guardian

Don't blame Salford City for spending. Blame the archaic promotion system

Salford City have made some big-money signings but, with just one automatic promotion slot available, who can blame them

It is a good article on the promotion to the Football League and it won't change as the league clubs have to ratify giving more spaces and that is like asking Turkey's to vote for Xmas. Won't happen.
Have to laugh though as it is 4 up and down in football league but only three into prem. A similar case is it not?
