Can Arsenal get Back Into Champions League?

on Fri 13 Jul 2018, 12:43 pm
Arsenal have not reached the Champions League in the last two seasons after finishing 5th & 6th. Can they change that this coming season and get back in the top four?
They have a new man at the helm now but it won't be easy.
First they have to dislodge one of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool or Spurs and contend with Chelsea wanting to do the same.

Can they do it? Can they get back in the top four next season?

Vote in the poll and put your opinions in the thread.

No chance for me.
Almost guaranteed to go back before going forward as Wenger has gone. That is first reason then the top four are far better than Arsenal at present and they will improve even if Arsenal do so they will still be behind them.
Too hard for them it will take a couple of seasons at least.

Not for me.
They just aren't good enough at the moment and their summer buys so far aren't the best. They are ok but you look at Fred to United and Liverpool's new keeper and have to say that is City, United & Liverpool beyond Arsenal for starters.

If I am honest their biggest mistake recently was selling Sanchez to Man Utd and not getting anyone of quality to replace him. It has cost them and continues to do so. New manager or not they will find it hard to claw their way back into the top 4.

think there's just too much competition around these days - I'd pick Liverpool and Spurs as strong guns this season

I'd agree about the competition but for me Tottenham flatter to deceive every year. They have a great manager but never seemed to get the job done in winning anything. Every year they are also rans when they need that something to get them over the line and win. They need to add to the team and haven't.
Liverpool yes I'd agree, so good going forward but back line is still a problem for me. They have sorted keeper with new guy maybe but Lovren is not good enough for a team that wants the title. Sort another defender to support Van Dijk and I'd say they are serious contenders.

Probably not.
Mainly because Arsenal is a team that is simply not capable of “playing for results”, especially in away matches. This means they are very likely to lose away matches because constant rigid tactics of fluid passing that does not always work in away matches, especially in poor pitches. Opponents (particularly Italian clubs) are going to start reading them playing at their stadium and will use “Stoke City like” tactics on them.
Moreover, the team’s constant fitness and injury problems every season as well as their inability to adept well in poor pitches in stadiums in Eastern Europe will also be a significant factor. Arsenal’s inability to keep most of their player fitness ready and injury free will result in fatigue and more injuries throughout their Europa League campaign
