World Cup Politics

on Wed 28 Mar 2018, 12:39 pm

That awkward moment when Boris Johnson is reminded Russia (USSR) boycotted Hitler's Olympics, but Great Britain didn't. And the England football team were ordered by the then Tory government to give the Nazi salute in Germany in 1938.

Russia won't be as exagerrated ... but how might the political politics play out? Thoughts?

Thanks to the Blackpool BHS forum for the photo ...

I mean, with recent relations between the countries, might there be an explosion (OK, metaphorical) and England walks out altogether, or even doesn't go at the end?!

I think Russia would be on real sticky ground if it did anything to interfere with the World Cup. They would wait a long long time to get it again. Nevermind what other countries would then do.
